Valentine’s Day has come and gone again but I have one more sweet love story to share – the kind of love they make movies about. Really, after reading this letter from Ernie, I had this whole Hollywood movie plot formulating in my head. Any script
writers or novelists out there, take note of this…
Delilah, this Valentine’s Day marked 9 years without Nancy, my late wife. The wonderful memories I have of her go back to a December, over 20 years ago. It was there, on-board the carrier Enterprise, I chose several letters
from a seasonal event we had called "Operation Dear Abby," which took place in many newspapers throughout the United States.
During Christmas, Abby asked readers to write to service members, who would be away from their families for the holidays. My future wife, Nancy from Independence, Missouri wrote to the 12 addresses in her local paper. I picked
her card along with 4-5 others to say thanks for writing. We became pen pals.
There is much, much more to the story, but suffice it to say we were married the following December in Independence. She was my Valentine for many years. I miss her, but the memories she left me will always bring a smile on
that day. From, Ernie....
Well, I really want that “much, much more” missing piece to the story because I think that’s the stuff that’s going to make the hit Hollywood movie. For those of you out there with a script-worthy love story, don’t leave out the mushy details when you write to me!
E-mail your story to Producer David tonight... and he will share those with me: David@delilah.com.
See you tonight, on the radio!
With Love... Delilah <3
