When parents write in about their grown kids and talk about how they can still remember when they were wearing pig tails or pee wee T-ball uniforms, I can’t help but feel a pang of sadness that those days are behind me for several of my kids. Thank heavens for memories captured in photographs! If you have young kids, please make the most of your time with them, and if your kids are grown, you might relate to this little story from Karen…
In just a few weeks, my son, Isaac, will be completing his Eagle Scout project. He joined his troop as a cub scout when he was just in kindergarten. Wow, where have those years gone?!
I'll always remember how cute he looked in that little blue uniform shirt with that orange bandanna. I remember, too, how excited he would get when it was Pinewood Derby or Rain-gutter Regatta time. He loved to go camping and backpacking with his dad and the other boys and leaders of the troop.
I'm glad that he had those opportunities which seem old-fashioned in the best kind of way. He is using the leadership skills he has learned, and I know he will succeed because I see it in his eyes.
Can you help me say congratulations to him and all the other Eagle Scouts whose ranks he will soon join? I want the scouts to stay strong for future generations so we'll support them no matter what. We believe that there is good in this organization's mission and we want that to be their legacy. Karen
I love how Karen can see the success in her son’s eyes, and I can feel the pride oozing out of this letter. Who’s on your heart today? Who makes you proud? Who has worked really hard to be where they are today? Call me and let’s find the perfect song to honor that person. My number is 1-800-222-1067.
