Are you still trying to think of some clever ways to impress your sweetheart, or even your kids this Valentine’s Day? You see, I have over a dozen Valentines and most of them are teenagers and younger. So I like to come up with ways we can celebrate as a family. Here are some great ideas that have worked for me and have come in from listeners in the past… Have a beach bonfire. If you don’t have a beach nearby, pack a picnic dinner and go somewhere else where you can stargaze.
Get busy in the kitchen. Bake a giant cookie and write I love you in chocolate chips. Make her favorite breakfast delivered to her in bed. If you don’t have time that morning, make breakfast in bed for dinner! Remember, it’s the ambiance that matters. Light candles, play music, add a single flower in a vase to the presentation.
Reschedule for the weekend. Since Valentine’s Day is on a weeknight, ask your sweetheart on a formal date for the weekend. Plan to go sledding, hiking, to the zoo…do something that really charges your spirit.
Make chocolate-covered strawberries for your love. Melt 16 oz. milk chocolate chips and 2 Tbsp. shortening. Dip ¾ of strawberry into chocolate and lay on wax paper to cool and harden. Dip in coconut shavings, chopped nuts or sprinkles for added fun.
Host a game night. Dust off your Charades and invite another couple to join you. Or make this a family affair with the kids! Pop some popcorn, make those chocolate-covered strawberries and have a ball.
Create a scavenger hunt. In the house. In the park. In the town. Wherever you have the time and energy to do it. Hide everything from love notes to candy to old photos in new frames…the possibilities are endless.
If you are a last-minute planner, these are some really easy ways you can make a big impression on your Valentine. Another way you can show your love is by saying it with a song. Call me with a song request, 1-800-222-1067, post it on my Interactive Message Board , text me at 48484 or e-mail Producer David tonight, he's checking all of the e-mails that come in at: David@delilah.com .... there are plenty of ways you can get in touch with me!
I'll see you on the air tonight at 7pm, for the show... as we prepare for Valentine's Day together!!
With Love.... Delilah <3
