WEIRD NEWS: Serving Dessert ... No Kids Allowed!

Shoppers in Britain are used to showing ID if they're trying to buy alcohol or cigarettes, but there's now a new item on the adults-only list ... microwavable pudding.

24-year-old Robert Nemeti found that out when he tried to use a self-checkout lane at his local supermarket to make his purchase – only to be flagged by the computer. When an employee rushed over, she asked to see some identification, which Nemeti did not have with him – but the worker agreed that he appeared to be of age, so she approved the transaction.

Nemeti says, "I asked her why and was stunned when she told me: 'It gets hot when you cook it – and you may burn yourself.' Health and safety has gone crazy if you now have to prove you can be trusted with a chocolate pudding." (Daily Mail)

WEIRD NEWS: Ring Around the Burrito

A Georgia mom is no doubt sniffing around for a lawyer after her four-year-old nearly pierced her tongue on a nose ring that turned up inside a fast-food breakfast burrito.

Frances Rosario says she'd bought the breakfast burrito at a local McDonald's and was sitting with the little girl as she ate – when she noticed something shiny in the tortilla. When she went in to check, she saw that it was part of a nose ring, but when she checked inside the restaurant, no one would take responsibility. She got no satisfaction from contacting the chain's corporate headquarters, either.

Sounds like an unhappy meal to us. (New York Daily News)

WEIRD NEWS: Dialing Under the Influence

A German man dialed up a mess of trouble when he was pulled over on suspicion of drunk driving and tried to call his lawyer – using the cop's breathalyzer device.

Bernhard Becker was clocked at a random checkpoint, where he was asked to blow into the blood alcohol scanner. He took the device, but began speaking into it instead, leading officers to guess that they'd made the right choice in checking him out.

A police spokesman says, "We didn't really need the reading. There aren't many sober people who'd do that." (Croatian Times)

SERIAL KILLER: Found Dead Inside Jail Cell

A suspected serial killer was found dead last night in his jail cell of an apparent suicide. Israel Keyes had been initially arrested in the death of an Alaska barista. However, it was revealed in press conference last night that Keyes was linked to possibly 7 other slaying in 4 states.

He was scheduled to go to court in March on charges of murdering 18-year-old Samantha Koenig. Keyes reportedly confessed to killing Koenig, and suggested he was responsible for murders in Texas, New York, and 4 others in Washington state.

KATT WILLIAMS: Arrested Again

No, this isn't a repeat -- Katt Williams has been arrested again.

Katt was picked up last night (Sunday) at a bar in Seattle after a bar fight. He allegedly was swinging a pool cue at people, including the bar's manager. Then he followed a family outside and threw a cigarette at a woman, hitting her in the eye.

He was booked at about 6:45 local time and released early this morning.

Katt's legal issues are piling up. He's facing a bunch of charges in Sacramento, California after leading police on a wild chase on his three-wheeled motorcycle last week, and he was arrested in Oakland, California a few weeks ago for his role in another bar fight. That came not long after he was picked up -- but not charged -- with pulling a gun on actor Faizon Love. And there's still a 2010 bench warrant out for his arrest in Georgia for an alleged battery in an Atlanta hotel.

WILLIAM AND KATE: A Royal Bun in the Oven

After weeks of rumors and whispers, Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton have confirmed the good news -- they're expecting their first baby.

The royal couple broke the news earlier today after Kate was spotted checking into a London hospital for what a spokesperson has described as an acute case of hypermesis gravidarium -- or, as normal gals call it, morning sickness.

The official statement says, "Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby. As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her Royal Highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter."

No other details, such as a due date, have been announced.

KATE MIDDLETON: Bets Being Placed on Baby's Name

Kate Middleton's pregnancy was confirmed only today (Monday), but Brits are already taking bets on the impending royal baby's name.

If it's a girl, odds are good that Kate and Prince William will name their firstborn after Queen Elizabeth (8-1).

Jessica Bridge of the betting outfit Ladbrokes says, "Kate and Wills pulled the wool over our eyes, but now attention turns to the name of the baby, and it looks like the couple will stick with a traditional name. If they're expecting a girl, who better to name her after than Her Majesty?"

The odds of them naming the baby after William’s mom, the late Princess Diana, are 12-1. The odds aren't good for the baby being named after William’s stepmother Camilla (66-1) or Sarah Ferguson (250-1).

If it’s a boy, John and Charles are the 10-1 favorites.

LEONARDO DiCAPRIO: Miranda Kerr or Cameron Diaz?

The New York Daily News reports that newly-single Leonardo DiCaprio and Miranda Kerr are flirting in public. She is married to Orlando Bloom. So it would be a shocker for her to publicly humiliate her husband. Yet, it is well-established that Leo has an eye for the supermodels.

The Daily News, this morning, details several occasions in recent weeks when Miranda and Leo have conveniently been at the same nightspot and partied early into the morning. Most recently, on Friday night, she “had her legs draped over him.” Other sources tell the Daily News “There is absolutely nothing going on with Leo. They have been very good friends for a very long time. There is nothing to it.”

So perhaps Leo has been baiting Cameron Diaz by flirting with Miranda. The New York Post claims it is Cameron who is trying to dig her claws into Leo. They partied together last weekend. A witness says Leo spent much of the early evening texting until Cameron arrived. Then (quote) “It was obvious they are great friends. He was very excited when she came to meet him, and he got up from his table to guide her to where he was sitting.” They partied together until 3 in the morning.

NICK LACHEY: Details Emerge from NFL Game Ejection

More details are emerging from Nick Lachey’s ejection from an NFL game. At Sunday’s match between the Cincinnati Bengals and San Diego Chargers, Lachey was escorted from the stadium. He claimed it was due to an “overzealous Chargers fan”, who poked a finger in his face.

TMZ is reporting this morning that Lachey turned nasty during the trash talking, and called the San Diego Chargers fan’s wife a "f**king b*tch".

Multiple witnesses say there was no love-lost between the two men. At one point, Lachey and his gang poked fun of the Charger’s fan wearing the jersey of player from years gone by. That’s when the guy’s wife shot back at Nick (quote) “Well, he lasted longer than your boy band."

Nick reportedly flipped out and was eventually escorted out of the stadium.

KRISTIN CHENOWETH: Dating Jake Pavelka

After weeks of speculation, Kristin Chenoweth has copped to dating former Bachelor star Jake Pavelka. She tells People magazine, "We have been spending a little time together." 

After meeting at an event in October, the two were spotted dining together in West Hollywood and then at a cafe near his Texas home. For the record, she's 44 and he's 34

NICK LACHEY: Removed From Football Game

Nick Lachey got booted from the Bengals - Chargers game Sunday after mixing it up with another passionate fan.

Sunday Nick tweeted, "Just got kicked out of the Chargers stadium and couldn't be prouder! Go Cincy Bengals! I'd talk trash to everyone in SD, but what's the point? You already had me kicked out of the stadium and you still lost." The Bengals beat the Chargers 20-13.

Today (Monday), he explained that he didn't get kicked out because of his trash-talking but because of an overzealous Charger fans. "For the record, I was not kicked out of the Chargers game for excessive 'trash talking.' No, that honor belonged to the guy in front of me! I simply don't appreciate someone turning around and putting their finger in my face. Call me crazy, but that deserved a reaction."

JOHN TRAVOLTA: Sued by Alleged Gay Lover

A former pilot who says he had a secret gay relationship with John Travolta is suing the actor.

Doug Gotterba claims he never signed a confidentiality agreement that would stop him from blabbing to the media. And he recently did just that, telling the National Enquirer about his "steamy affair" with the star. 

Travolta's lawyer calls the suit "ridiculous" and says Gotterba did sign a contract that contains a confidentiality agreement.

JOHN TRAVOLTA & OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN: Release Xmas Album Video Today (audio)

John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John released their holiday album, This Christmas, three weeks ago and today (Tuesday) they unleash a video for the only original song on it, "I Think You Might Like It," which is written by John Farrar, who wrote "You're the One That I Want." Last year at Christmas, that song provided the spark for This Christmas, when Olivia texted John to let him know that "You're the One That I Want" had just become the top-selling duet recording of all time. It was his idea to do the album, and hers to donate all the proceeds to their respective charities. Travolta tells us that he wanted the album to sound "like you were visiting us at home and you were hanging around the piano."

ROD STEWART: Spring Tour With Steve Winwood

Rod Stewart will tour next spring with fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Steve Winwood. They'll kick off the Live the Life tour April 10th in Chicago, with shows also set for New York, Newark, Philadelphia, Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Atlanta and Detroit.

Stewart made the announcement during an interview this morning (Monday) on Live! With Kelly and Michael, telling the nationwide TV audience, "I'm thrilled to be touring with Steve Winwood.  He is truly part of rock and roll's enduring tapestry."

ERIC CLAPTON, COLDPLAY: Added to 12-12-12 Show

Eric Clapton and Coldplay's Chris Martin have joined the lineup for 12-12-12: The Concert for Sandy Relief. Also on the bill are Bon Jovi, Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, Billy Joel, Alicia Keys, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Roger Waters, Kanye West, The Who and Paul McCartney. 

The show at New York's Madison Square Garden on December 12th didn't have any problems selling tickets before Clapton and Martin were added  -- it sold out in less than 15 minutes. It will air live on HBO, Showtime, Sundance Channel and AMC.

IRAN CAPTURES DRONE: Allegedly in Iranian Airspace

If you can believe the state-owned TV network in Iran, the country has captured another drone belonging to the United States.

The so-called “Revolutionary Guard” took control of the unmanned aircraft after it allegedly entered Iranian airspace. The Guard's navy chief announced this morning of the capture without going into details.

This would be the second known US drone caught by the Iranians. Last year, they brought down a spy drone that had stealth technology. Then they placed it on display as proof.

HOT APPEARANCE: U.S. Magician on Fire in Dominican TV Spot

American magician Wayne Houchin is on the mend in the Dominican Republic after a local TV host lit his head on fire, live on the air, with flammable cologne.

Houchin, who's from Chico, California, posted a note on his Facebook page on Sunday that said he was "resting, healing & working through the legal process."

It's not known why guest host Franklin Barazarte doused him with Agua de Florida, a flammable substance often used in Santeria rituals. The bizarre incident happened during a November 26th appearance on the Dominican Republic TV show Close to the Stars.
