TWINKIES: Are They Gone Forever?

Posted: Friday 10:52AM Nov. 16, 2012 PST

With the closure of Hostess Brands, such snack-time favorites as Twinkies, cupcakes, Ho-Hos, Suzy Q's, Donettes and Ding Dongs will be disappearing from store shelves.

But the absence will likely be only temporary. Though the Hostess Company has closed, it is actually going to be liquidated, with the recipes and trademarks for its popular products being sold to another company that will revive them before long.

A few fun facts about Twinkies:

  • The Twinkie was invented in 1930.
  • The bottom of a Twinkie is actually the top during baking.
  • Twinkies cannot last 25 years. The shelf life is actually less than a month.
  • The original filling was banana creme. It was changed during World War Two due to banana rationing.

JENNY McCARTHY: Cougar Attacks Startled Bieber at AMAs ()

Posted: Sunday 11:45PM Nov. 18, 2012 PST

One of the big surprises at last night's American Music Awards occurred when actress, model and talk show host Jenny McCarthy kissed a startled Justin Bieber on the neck and then grabbed his butt after presenting him with his trophy for Favorite Pop/Rock Album.

"I couldn't help it," McCarthy explained in the pressroom afterward, "he was just so delicious." She also joked, "I'm single, but I think that's cougar rape if you ask me." She went on to say she was upset when her fellow presenter, country singer Luke Bryan, went to wipe her lipstick off the 18-year-old Bieber. "I did that for a reason -- so he'd remember me."

  • On December 6th, she'll join Phillip Phillips, James Taylor and Babyface at the 90th annual National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on the Ellipse near the White House. It won't be her first time meeting the First Family. Last year, she sang for them at the White House Easter Egg Roll.

KATY PERRY: Dissed by X Factor Singer

Posted: Friday 08:43AM Nov. 16, 2012 PST

Katy Perry has been kicked to the curb by a contestant on Britain's X Factor -- who's refusing to sing one of her tunes because he thinks it glorifies alcohol abuse.

According to London's Sun, fan favorite Jahmene Douglas is refusing to take part in the group sing-along of "Last Friday Night" because it runs counter to his beliefs -- and it looks like he might be getting the song dropped from this Sunday's show.

A source close to the show says, "The song is about drinking, and Jahmene is tee-total. He made it clear from the start that he won't sing songs about drinking, and when he heard the track, he was adamant that he wouldn't perform it. Bosses have respected his wishes and it's all hands on deck to get a new song ready in time for Sunday."
