LINDSAY LOHAN: Police Called - Altercation With Mom

Posted: Wednesday 08:49AM Oct. 10, 2012 PST

Apparently this week has been too quiet for Lindsay Lohan -- police were called to her mother Dina's home in Mineola, New York this morning after the two of them had an altercation.

Apparently they were out clubbing in New York City -- because what's more fun than clubbing with your mom -- when things got ugly. According to TMZ, Lindsay had a limo lined up to take her back to her hotel, but a drunken Dina wanted it to take her home. Lindsay objected, but Dina prevailed after a nasty catfight. So Lindsay wound up on Long Island, where the 911 caller said she was being held against her will

Cops investigated a domestic violence claim, but no charges were filed.

He took time from his daytime talk show to address Palin directly (quote) “Anyone who is on a reality show knows that to get attention, you have to have a wardrobe malfunction, throw up, a breakdown -- have a storyline. Bristol Palin is a genius because she developed a storyline that made her very sympathetic. I am thinking of starting a job fair for people who need to get jobs: Lindsay Lohan, Bristol Palin. ALEX KARRAS: Football Star Turned Actor and Broadcaster Dead at 77 Posted: Wednesday 09:03AM Oct. 10, 2012 PST

Alex Karras, a standout defensive lineman for 12 years with the Detroit Lions, who went on to greater fame as an actor and TV football commentator, died today (Wednesday) at his Los Angeles home. The Detroit Free Press says Karras, who was 77, had suffered a variety of health issues, including cancer, dementia and kidney failure.

Possessing more of a showbiz sense than most gridiron stars, Karras also dabbled in pro wrestling during a one-year suspension from the league for gambling activities. His flair fit nicely in the comic zaniness of Mel Brooks's comedy Blazing Saddles, where he played Mongo, the infamous horse-punching brute. An even better showcase for his natural wit was ABC's Monday Night Football, where he joined Howard Cosell and Frank Gifford from 1974 to '76. His most famous ad-lib came as he saw steam rising from the clean-shaven head of Raiders defensive lineman Otis Sistrunk -- he joked that the Oakland player was an alumnus of "The University of Mars." He even broke into song -- once performing a fight song then-coach Lou Holtz had supposedly written for his struggling New York Jets.

Karras's steadiest role came on the sitcom Webster, where he played an retired player -- and adoptive father of the orphaned son of an ex-teammate. He also had roles in movies such as Paper Lion, Porky's and Babe -- the bio-pic of golfer Babe Zaharias, in which his wife Susan Clark played the title role.

Like many former NFL stars, Karras's later years were plagued by health issues -- his dementia led him to join in a class-action lawsuit against the league regarding the long-term effects of head injuries.

JANET JACKSON: Upset Over Vanity Fair Article

Posted: Wednesday 10:33AM Oct. 10, 2012 PST

Janet Jackson is demanding a retraction of that Vanity Fair story saying that she held up the funeral for her brother Michael over money.

The article says that Janet wouldn't let the ceremony go forward until Michael's estate reimbursed her for a $40,000 burial deposit. He wasn't interred for nearly three months after his death.

But Janet's camp insists the delay had nothing to do with money. She says she never asked to be reimbursed and the money she did receive didn't come for a full year after the ceremony. Her attorney Blair G. Brown calls the allegations "untrue" and "outrageous," saying, "This story is particularly hurtful and distressing because of Ms. Jackson's strong desire to serve her brother, whom she loved dearly, and her wish to stand with and support her family."

In addition to a retraction, Janet wants Vanity Fair to advise other media outlets who based reports on the article that it's untrue.

We've heard politicians talk about putting lipstick on a pig, but two California women took another approach and put nail polish on a goat -- which they kid-napped from a local petting zoo.

A surveillance camera shows a woman hopping a fence and scooping up the goat, who's described as "sweet and gentle," before taking off with an accomplice. They fled the scene, but returned 24 hours later to return the critter, unharmed but pedicured, and adorned with hot pink polish.

The zoo's owner is not looking to press charges, saying that the goat-borrowers may have already suffered enough. He says "[Goats] go to the bathroom a lot. I can only imagine what their house looks like. It's kind of karma for them." (10 News San Diego)

In a statement, Beyonce says, "For months we tried to coordinate our schedules to bring this re-make to life, but it was just not possible. Hopefully in the future we will get a chance to work together."

At least the staunch Obama supporter won't have to worry about debating politics with Eastwood, who appeared onstage at last month's Republican convention, talking to an empty chair meant to represent the President.

PARENTING: Lies All Moms Tell Their Toddlers

No parent intends to lie to their children, but their are some circumstances when a little fib to your toddler seems like an absolute necessity. Here are some little white lies all moms tell their toddlers:

  • "I'm sorry, honey, your toy isn't working because it needs new batteries."  You know darn well you took the batteries out of that toy because you thought you might lose your mind if you heard it for one minute longer.

  • "You better behave – Santa's watching!" Kind of spooky, but very effective – especially the closer you get to Christmas

  • "No Dora isn't on right now." They don't need to know about OnDemand, the TV isn't only for kid programming after all!

  • "No, there are no (insert their least favorite veggie) in that!" How else will you get them to eat their veggies?

  • "If you don't clean up your toys, Mommy is going to throw them all out!" (Stir)

Not only did Lance Armstrong use performance-enhancing drugs, he pushed them on his teammates and told those teammates who were reluctant to use the drugs, that they could be replaced. Those are among the allegations included in a report released Wednesday by the United States Anti-Doping Agency.

Armstrong was not alone in distributing and securing the drugs. According to the report, he had an underground network of support staff, which included smuggles, doctors and drug runners, the allowed him to use and share the drugs.

Posted: Thursday 12:45AM Oct. 11, 2012 PST

Google bombing refers to clandestine efforts to force Google to always link a politician with a key phrase-- often to humorous effect. Former Governor Mitt Romney did it all by himself. A Google image search of the term "completely wrong" brings up images of Romney.

A spokesperson for the search company says Romney only has himself to blame. The results are due to Republican candidate apologizing for disparaging the “47 percent”. In an interview last weekend with Fox News, he told them (quote) “I said something that’s just completely wrong.”

Now, when you look up “completely wrong”, it is Mitt’s face that appears.

PARKING GARAGE COLLAPSE: Worker Rescued After Legs Amputated

Posted: Thursday 12:46AM Oct. 11, 2012 PST

Shortly after midnight, rescuers saved the life of the (unnamed) construction worker trapped under the rubble of a collapsed parking garage. They saved him, but had to amputate both legs above the knee.

The 5-story Miami garage was under construction when it suddenly started to pancake. Two workers are confirmed dead. Ten were injured. Another is still missing, and doctors say the survivor is being treated in the hospital but is in "severe critical condition". Rescuers thought it would take days to extract him from the rubble without amputation.
