A study found that friends who chat at least once every two weeks have the best chance of staying close over time.
Researchers at the University of Notre Dame examined patterns among 8 million phone calls by 2 million people – after a year, the friends who talked with each other at least a couple times a month were still catching up regularly, while those who talked less often were more likely to grow apart over the following year.

More and more studies are looking at the different fats we have in our diets – and what those fats do to our bodies.
Our modern diet has changed dramatically in just a couple of generations. Omega-3 fats are almost non-existent in the foods we eat, but we're constantly chowing down on omega-6 fats.
In nature, omega-3 fats are "spring" fats and can be found in such foods as leafy greens and fish.
On the other hand, omega-6 fats are "fall" fats and can be found in things that are harvest in fall, such as grains and soybeans.
So, some researchers believe that all that omega-6 fat is signaling to our bodies that winter is coming and is causing our bodies to hibernate.
It's just as bad as it sounds. Our metabolism slows down and we lose our energy each and every time we eat something deep-fried. (The San Francisco Chronicle)

A new relationship can have you spinning with a million different exciting feelings – it's hard to tell if you are falling in love or if you are just caught up in the fun of dating a new guy.
Relationship experts say instead of repeating the falling in love too fast, relationship fizzle cycle, take a step back and ask yourself these questions to find out if you are really in love with him or not:
A new study has found that morning people are much happier than night owls. It's not just because they wake up feeling chipper – morning people are actually more satisfied with life overall.
"We found that older adults reported greater positive emotion than younger adults, and older adults were more likely to be morning-type people than younger adults," said study researcher Renee Biss. "The 'morningness' was associated with greater happiness emotions in both age groups." (LiveScience)
Pink addresses her sexuality, motherhood and even the economy in the November cover story in the LGBT-interest magazine The Advocate.
Regarding her sexuality, she says, "Honestly, I've never defined myself. I've never felt the need to. I still don't." Asked about a report of bi-sexuality in her past in the now-defunct U.K. tabloid News of the World, Pink skirts a direct answer. "The kind of world I live in and lived in was [a] very open one. I was like a club kid. I was a little candy raver, and I am the kind of person that sucks the marrow out of the bones of life. Those days were really crazy and lots of all-nighters."
Linda Hogan was arrested yesterday morning (Thursday) on suspicion of DUI.

A rep for Linda claims that one drink combined with the antibiotics she's been prescribed made her too tipsy to drive.

She is being acknowledged for her activism, and how her album Born This Way has widely changed the mental map of the world. And how it has made us deal with the future world, which happens to be here already."
The award ceremony is part of the annual John Lennon celebration in Iceland on October 9th, which would have been his 72nd birthday. The Imagine Peace Tower, designed by Yoko, will once again be lit in his memory.
McDonald's says you deserve a break today, unless of course you're pretending to be a cop to get free food.
A 33-year-old Florida man assumed that all police officers get free stuff, so he placed his order at a McDonald's drive-thru, and then flashed a fake badge and a real gun. He told the employee at the window that he'd just gotten off duty and forgot his wallet.
The manager didn't buy his story and called 911. Cops arrived and arrested him for impersonating a police officer. Maybe next time he should try a doughnut store. (Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office)

Mila Kunis has been named the Sexiest Woman Alive by Esquire magazine.
The actress tells the publication, "If I wanted to charm the pants off you, I could. I think that if I bought into the hype, I would lose all sight of who I am, and so much of who I am is what my parents went through and instilled in me. And I never want to lose that. Ever. Because I would be so disappointed if I didn't make them proud."
Mila took the title from last year's winner Rihanna.
Jon Stewart and Bill O'Reilly squared off Saturday in a debate dubbed "The Rumble in the Air-Conditioned Auditorium."
The two pundits tackled such issues as income redistribution, funding of public television, social security, the economy and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Though they took the questions seriously, there were plenty of zingers, most of which had to do with Stewart being nine inches shorter than O'Reilly.
The debate was streamed live on the Internet.
Here is the complete 90-minute debate:
Lady Gaga has explained why a song she recorded with rapper Kendrick Lamar won't be on his upcoming debut album, Good Kid, m.A.A.d City. Writing on her Little Monsters fan site, Gaga apologized for pulling "Partynauseous" -- which she and Lamar completed back in August -- from the album, and places the blame on musical meddling by Lamar's "team."
"When I collaborate with an artist, I work solely with them, not with their camps or management," she writes. Gaga says that while she dearly loves Lamar "as a friend," she wasn't willing to agree to changes his team were making to her music. "I have a very specific vision as a producer and songwriter, and I always have," she states, adding that the song "will be released at a different time, for a different project." Good Kid, m.A.A.d City will be out, minus Gaga, on October 22nd.

With more than 80 percent of voters turning up to vote, closing time in some polling places was extended to accommodate those stuck in long lines.
Jay-Z is still down with the common people. On Saturday, Hova showed as much by taking the subway to the last of his eight shows at Brooklyn's new Barclays Center.
Jay was escorted by his own posse and some plainclothes cops. Fans snapped photos and Hova even struck up a conversation with an elderly woman he was sitting near.
The excitement didn't stop there. Onstage, he was joined by his wife Beyonce who performed "Crazy in Love" with Jay during the mid-point of the show and "Young Forvever" at the end.
Thank goodness for "backing vocals". Otherwise, Lady Gaga's concert in Barcelona yesterday would have had a major hiccup while she puked on stage. Instead, nobody was the wiser when the singer turned her back to the crowd, continued to dance, and got ralphed up her dinner (and drinks).
Meanwhile, her flawless "singing" continued without interruption. A miracle. Lady Gaga must be a ventriloquist.
One concert goer captured the scene on video and posted to You Tube:
Radar Online reports that the on-again/ off-again relationship between Katy Perry and John Mayer is definitely off-again. She allegedly couldn't tolerate his wandering eye -- which is reminiscent of her ex-husband Russell Brand. Also, he wasn't affectionate and attentive enough to suit her desires.
The whirlwind relationship started in August, and was over within a matter of weeks. However, around Labor Day, they got back together for another try. Radar Online Katy dumped him over the weekend. An unnamed source told Radar Online (quote) "She needs the guy to be on board 100 percent and she was sick of John disappearing for five days at a time, then booty calling her."
The set of Dancing with the Stars was briefly evacuated on Wednesday of last week when a suspicious package arrived. It was addressed to Bristol Pailn and contained a note demanding her removal from the show-- or else.
The white powder within the package alarmed the crew. Police were called in. Tests eventually proved that the powder was harmless. Still, the LAPD is investigating and because of Bristol's political connections, the FBI is now looking into the matter. This threat is eerily similar to one back in 2010, the first time Bristol was a contestant on Dancing with the Stars.
