A study found that friends who chat at least once every two weeks have the best chance of staying close over time.

Researchers at the University of Notre Dame examined patterns among 8 million phone calls by 2 million people – after a year, the friends who talked with each other at least a couple times a month were still catching up regularly, while those who talked less often were more likely to grow apart over the following year.

BATTLE OF THE BULGE: Are We Gaining Weight Because We're Hibernating?

Posted: Friday 09:32AM Oct. 05, 2012 PST

More and more studies are looking at the different fats we have in our diets – and what those fats do to our bodies.

Our modern diet has changed dramatically in just a couple of generations. Omega-3 fats are almost non-existent in the foods we eat, but we're constantly chowing down on omega-6 fats.

In nature, omega-3 fats are "spring" fats and can be found in such foods as leafy greens and fish.

On the other hand, omega-6 fats are "fall" fats and can be found in things that are harvest in fall, such as grains and soybeans.

So, some researchers believe that all that omega-6 fat is signaling to our bodies that winter is coming and is causing our bodies to hibernate.

It's just as bad as it sounds. Our metabolism slows down and we lose our energy each and every time we eat something deep-fried. (The San Francisco Chronicle)

RELATIONSHIPS: How To Know If You Are Really in Love

Posted: Sunday 03:38PM Oct. 07, 2012 PST

A new relationship can have you spinning with a million different exciting feelings – it's hard to tell if you are falling in love or if you are just caught up in the fun of dating a new guy.

Relationship experts say instead of repeating the falling in love too fast, relationship fizzle cycle, take a step back and ask yourself these questions to find out if you are really in love with him or not:

  • Do you put his happiness above your own? This goes beyond buying him gifts to make him smile. We're talking skipping out on plans you are looking forward to and hanging with him because he's feeling blue.
  • Do you accept him for his differences? Are his opinions on religion or politics something you hope he will change or do you feel that even though you have different opinions you don't want to change who he is?
  • Are you attracted to all of him? He just revealed he has webbed toes. If you find them cute, it might be a sign of love – but if you find yourself picking apart his imperfections it's more like Mr. Right Now instead of Mr. Right.
  • Could you see yourself having his kids? If you start wondering what kind of father he would be and what your kids might look like, you are more invested in the relationship than just a passing fling (Cosmo)

Lady Gaga has explained why a song she recorded with rapper Kendrick Lamar won't be on his upcoming debut album, Good Kid, m.A.A.d City. Writing on her Little Monsters fan site, Gaga apologized for pulling "Partynauseous" -- which she and Lamar completed back in August -- from the album, and places the blame on musical meddling by Lamar's "team."

"When I collaborate with an artist, I work solely with them, not with their camps or management," she writes. Gaga says that while she dearly loves Lamar "as a friend," she wasn't willing to agree to changes his team were making to her music. "I have a very specific vision as a producer and songwriter, and I always have," she states, adding that the song "will be released at a different time, for a different project." Good Kid, m.A.A.d City will be out, minus Gaga, on October 22nd.

DANCING WITH THE STARS: Suspicious Package Attracts FBI

Posted: Monday 01:53AM Oct. 08, 2012 PST

The set of Dancing with the Stars was briefly evacuated on Wednesday of last week when a suspicious package arrived. It was addressed to Bristol Pailn and contained a note demanding her removal from the show-- or else.

The white powder within the package alarmed the crew. Police were called in. Tests eventually proved that the powder was harmless. Still, the LAPD is investigating and because of Bristol's political connections, the FBI is now looking into the matter. This threat is eerily similar to one back in 2010, the first time Bristol was a contestant on Dancing with the Stars.
